I’ve been jammin on Big’s debut studio record Ready To Die and been loving it. Great lyrics and flow from the fat guy (with all due respect) and mean production from a couple different heads like Primo and Easy Mo Bee. The track “Everyday Struggle” has a sample that I was curious about. I’ve been into some of that fusion stuff from 1978 and had to find it out. Turns out the sample was from Dave Grusin’s Mountain Dance, a track called “Either Way”.

If I saw this record at the shop, I probably wouldn’t even pick it up and see what was on the back. Life lessons learned from record diggin’. Also on it is a great track called “Rondo- ‘If You Hold Out Your Hand'” and “Friends and Strangers” sampled by MF for “Myrrh” off Special Herbs vol.1 & 2.
