Blue School In Session

22 09 2009

Geo and Sabzi will be stopping by the show tonight sometime in the first hour (9pm). Geo will spit some rhymes over the air, with Sabzi on the beats. Tune in!

Blue Scholars have been in the Islands since last week, doing a show in Honolulu last Friday (9/18/09) and one in Maui on Saturday. They’re back on O`ahu for their second show at The LoFt (9/25/09), with a Saturday show on the Big Island. They’re here promoting their collab with the 808 state, the Oof! EP with album artwork designed by Hawaii’s very own, Honozooloo.

KTUH Radiothon 2009

15 09 2009

KTUH’s Radiothon for 2009 is underway. This week until Friday KTUHers will be in the office to take your calls and donations from 8am-10pm. When you donate any amount, you get a KTUH sticker for your ass and good positive radio vibes. You can also give a shout out to your grandmother.

Tonight, I’ll be joined by some KTUHers past and present, including alumni who’ve influenced and helped me out. We’ll be giving away random goodies, and I made a couple special-edition handmade WinterInAntarctica mixes to giveaway, and playing good music as always. If you like what you hear, please donate. Call in at 956-5284 to donate during my show, 9pm to Midnight and get yourself some of these goodies.

I know these days we’re all used to not having to pay for digital stuff like music and videos, but definitely consider helping out an independent, student-run, 24/7, 365/yr, non-commercial college radio station that plays the best music on the islands, never goes to automation, and actually answers the phone to tell you what song you just heard or take your request. You can’t find that anywhere else in Hawaii, and very rarely elsewhere in the U.S. KTUH is the only station that loves you, even after all these years, and now it needs your love. 40 thousand more years for the best radio station in Hawaii!

CALL US: (808) 956-5284 (and receive a cool thank you gift!)

Re: Nosaj Thing Live

18 08 2009

Wow, how awesome was that? I really enjoyed seeing him perform live. He really gets into his music and it sounds great on a big system. Very inspiring and almost sinister as it was different than what Hawaii usually gets to see live. Jason is a really cool dude, just down to Earth and down for making dope beats and taking the live performance and remixing art of electronic music to the next level.

I dig this freestyle jam these guys did. Sorry, but it ends right when it gets really good. Joe gave a great performance too, sounded pretty awesome as well. Big thanks to him for rocking it..

Nuff respect to TKO for killing it on the decks. Here’s a clip from his performance. Hopefully you didn’t miss the show because you chose to go to Bayfest.

Thanks to NosajasoN Thing for coming to the HI and perform. Hopefully we’ll see you back soon, maybe with some fellow cronies in the mix. I hope this will be just the start of more good live music in Hawaii. Stuff that Hawaii hasn’t seen yet…

Special thanks to: PB&G, Rhombus, Shere’e, Kav, JtheS, ET/AL, et al.
